Chapter 172 Lots of Stuff Then, Eeeeeeh!?

 

Ah, I finished Master of The Brave some weeks ago, finally. Been wanted to finish it for a long time. Dang, I just love the feel the cover illustrations gave. The early chapters of it have amazing translation too. Really wanna make my translation have that quality. It was the first time I ever thought about the quality of translation lmao.

Sigh, I wanted to write this in previous chapter but seems I forgot gahaha.

 

 

Chapter 172 Lots of Stuff Then, Eeeeeeh!?

 

The sun beginning to set, as the blue sea is in the midst of being dyed red, we walk on the sea surface that has been frozen over, below our feet was the black and viscous water turned into scaffold.

Despite there being a boundary line between the blue and red, I wasn’t able to notice that. It was only the sea that can be seen spreading wide.

Oftenly, there were talks about how the rivers were polluted but has the sea really became this much of a death zone? I unintentionally got a goose bumps toward this disgust inducing scenery.

However, what makes me feel disgusted from the bottom of my being is not just from merely looking at the sea.

It’s because the island that exist on our field of vision....... no, is this really can be called an island?

What we’re seeing is a coast where not even any sand can be seen, decayed wreckage and fragments of structures, wrecked ships and many other things are scattered around, it was a world of mountains of those.

The island’s width isn’t that huge. It’s around the width of school plot with sports ground and buildings included.

However, I can’t imagine how it’s former condition was like, this foreign substance floating in the middle of the sea, it’s a world that far surpassing our imagination.

“It’s just mountains of trash, but one way or another it feels scary huh.” (Velt)

It’s horrifying.

I’m sure those pro-environment groups won’t just keep shut if they saw this but it is the world that has completely abandoned hope, even for the guys who have seen the hell known as war all this time, it is a sight they seen for first time.

And what makes it frightening more than anything is that in this dead world, are there people really living on it? It’s exactly that.

Where do we going to land in this island with no place that can be stepped on? In the end we can only make the trash as our stepping stones and proceed.

Well, I can float with fuwa fuwa though.

“Asakura-kun, no fair!” (Arusha)

Anyways, I don’t really want to walk on this island, let’s just go around the island while we float.

I was about to make everyone float. But, it was at that time.

A vibration was transmitted to the frozen sea surface. Cracks were appearing in the ice that’s slanted to the front.

So many, many times it jolted along with the sound of something clashing, it’s so clear that it isn’t something that happens naturally, I can understand that some kind of being is trying to rear it’s head from beneath to the sea surface.

And then finally, it smashed to pieces a part of the frozen sea surface, from the middle of the sea it came out so big as if a whale, so long and thick as if a snake, it intimidates with its enormous mouth wide open,  pitch black was the head of the thing that came out.

“That’s! The black snake Anakonzaurus! .......or so I heard? Hm............” (Arusha)

Way more than human, even a gigantic shark gonna be swallowed whole by it’s big frame.

However, what makes me and Ayase horrified isn’t it’s big body but it’s out of norm transfiguration.

“It’s scales are falling off here and there, and there are black fleck marks all over it looking as if being contaminated........ also inflamed skin...... it’s in this kind condition, it did well to stay alive.....” (Velt)

It has quite the belligerent temperament and with it’s stickily eyes it looks down as if trying to threaten us, is it trying to eat us the moment we show a gap?

If it’s a common animals it’s gonna be overwhelmed by fear and escape by it’s wild instinct but......

Unexpectedly, anakonzaurus opens it’s mouth and leaps upon us.

That’s dangerous! If my reaction late I’m gonna get eaten......

When I thought it was going to evade the snake suddenly turned it’s face to me, it change it’s course as if twining around and lunged.

I barely managed to avoid it to the sky. Honestly, it made me quite scared.

“Wait, just what is this! It won’t falter at all to intimidation.” (Velt)

“It’s a bit friggin’ but what should we do?” (Kagami)

We’re bewildered by the big snake that didn’t budge at all with intimidation and came at us instead, but Kaa-kun and others calmly analyze the situation.

“Fuh, it might be starving, or perhaps for it to keep existing in this dead sea, it seems to have messed it’s own body-dazou.” (Kaizer)

It’s ability to detect danger has long been broken.

It has been corrupted by this dead world to the point of destroying it’s sense of fear.

Looking at it, it’s a pitiable thing.

Kaa-kun scratches at the sea surface lightly. It’s like the stretching done by cow or horse before they dash out.

The big snake rampaged about, and as if targeting Kaa-kun it locked onto him. And then it flew in a straight line to swallow Kaa-kun whole.

“Yuushou Ryoushou!”

TL note: I have no idea what to translate this into 有象量象 (Yuushou Ryoushou) is. Could it be a pun?

Is it aura that’s cladding Kaa-kun’s body? Or magic power? But it shines to the point that can be seen to the eyes, then the moment it expand to a wide range, that aura turned into something the shape of a huge swarm of elephants then simultaneously rushed toward the big snake, making the big snake facing them turned into dismembered pieces of meats.

“Whoa. It’s amazing but you sure don’t show mercy huh.” (Velt)

“Hmh, this is the world where the strong eat the weak-zou.” (Kaizer)

Kaa-kun said those words with his personal experience backing him.

However, it seems this is not the place to be carefreely giving praise.

Somehow, grotesque gigantic ocean creatures keep appearing one after another as if trying to prevent us from landing.

“They’re safer if they just stay inside the sludge sea.” (Arusha)

Still, we’re surprised at first but it’s already the second time after all.

We have no intention to lose here at all.

“Are you ready? Surf on Big Wave!” (Kishin)

“I’m goin’! Dragonic Super Delicious Great Max Power Tornado Corkscrew Blow!” (Jackpot)

As if telling them to fuck off, we kick out the swarming kaijuus as we walk straight.

The sound that ruptures the atmosphere, the kaijuus that got stuck inside ice, those of them that got swallowed by tsunami, there’s also some that somehow got blown away by a terrific punch, no matter whichever they are, they weren’t able to be much of a threat to us.

Unexpectedly we managed to reach the island with ease. Though Yuzuriha is now sleeping on Jackpot’s back.

But, it was at that time, from our front a gigantic shadow appeared.

This is, from behind!

What’s creeping unnoticed from behind is a gigantic squid that looks like zombie!

It’s gigantic ten legs are stretching towards our bodies as it got thinner.

And along with unintelligible sound of a squid, an explosion happened on the squid’s head.

This is, a bombardment?

“Ooh, wait, look! I feel like seeing a ship over there!” (Kagami)

In the direction where Kagami has pointed, there’s indeed a ship.

And there are smokes rising up from the bow of the ship.  So that ship did the bombardment? Are they saving us?

But, more than that, that ship......

“Somehow, it’s a cute ship right?~”

The ship isn’t that big. Most probably the crews are only several people.

However, while it’s small the ship’s appearance looks really neat.

Still, rather than interested with the ship itself, we’re more interested with it’s sail.

“That’s Ageha Butterfly!”

I see, before one foot sunk into the sea the other foot already stepped over, and before that foot also sunk in the other foot once again step forward! What the, impossible!

But, that shadow is really running like a gale and in the end jumped up.

He wears a stylish navy blue jinbei like in a summer, and on his feet are leather soled sandals, on his head a hand towel, and at his waist is unmistakenably a Japanese Katana.

TL note: So jinbei is a type of clothes huh. I only remember the guy from Sankarea wearing one but well you should look it up yourself. It’s like yukata for man but with short sleeve and pants.

I wasn’t able to see his battou stance all the way till he actually draws his sword out. When I realized it, things were already over and he’s sheathing his sword back.

TL note: Battou is a style in wielding katana. I don’t really know how it’s look though. In dictionary it’s literally translated into drawing a sword. Must be like Battousai from Samurai X.

The gigantic squid got bisected in an instant.

“That sword, could it be!”

“No, waaaaaay!”

What made us surprised wasn’t because of him running on the sea nor because of his sword attack.

He appeared, with arms as if withered twigs, an old demihuman that showed a sharpness unimaginable from his small body, it was the person himself that surprised us.

“Are you all okay? In the seas around here many of these big pips loitering arou.....nd?”

He is, unmistakenably Miyamoto.

“Eeeeeeh! I mean, EEEEEEH! Asaku, no Ayase-sa, ee, Kagami-ku, EEEEEH! It’s all EEEEEH in so many ways!” (Barnanado)

The composed old samurai in an instant about to blow his fuse to the point of making his own eyes popped out, rather, he’s similar to Musashi in that part huh.

The moment the two of them met, the strained atmosphere inevitably got dispersed.

“Li-ke I sa-id, those guys are so stiff, despite I asked them to play, they said that they’re being ordered by you to be my guard, they’re just totes so boring. You go and tell them, tell those guys to go play around or something. Ahh, hey, Asakura, you guys too let’s play together.” (Althea)

So in that ship there’s still some people..... ah, it’s true that there’s some demihumans wearing martial artist uniform in there, they’re looking at this situation with a very interested expression on their faces.

Still, despite so, this Biyama. To think that she still can say wanting to play around in this kind of situation.

“Hehe, then it’s decided. Hey, what’s your name cutie?” (Althea)

“Alright~, Yuzu-cchi, come over here. I’m going to make you even more cuter than you are right now with my make up! Rather, don’t go and make this girl wear something used for job hunting, you guys are so totes unbelievable.” (Althea)

Somehow as Biyama continued to proceed on her talk, she linked her hand with Yuzuriha and forcefully takes her along.

 Furthermore, as if reacting to [cuter than you are right now], Yuzuriha somehow just casually ignores our current situation and came to follow Biyama....... should I hit her butt once again?

“...............You can’t go pass beyond this point.” (Barnando)

“You sure are working hard, huh!” (Velt)

Even so Miyamoto brings back the lost tension and threaten us, honestly this is just spoiling things up, the unspeakable atmosphere came and swept us away.
